Nazan KIRCI is a contemporary self-taught painter based in Ankara, Turkey. She teaches Architecture in Gazi University In addition to her paintings, she reflected her abstract art style to accessories, such as rings and earrings. A diverse color palette, as well as their mixtures are presentation these accessories. Since when she was introduced to Argentine Tango seven years before, she deeply loved it, in other words, she had been a genuine tanguera. I have been creating artworks since 2007. I mostly use oil, and rarely acrylic as medium for my artworks. Besides, in my several works I added some paper layers to create tectonic appearance. I find inspiration for my art from the universe since it is the main source of all creations. There are countless beauties on, above, and underneath of the earth. On and underneath, plants, geology, minerals demonstrate infinitely many possible combinations. Above, particularly planets, nebulas, have pretty diverse forms, colors, and texture. These have a tremendous influence on my works. Creativity can come from everywhere in this universe, like history, literature, philosophy. Transferring artistic ideas of Doesburg, Mondrian, Kandinsky, Ozenfant, Picasso to architecture made enormous impact on history. Consequently, they amazed me as an architect, and my architectural background assisted in the development of my artistic style. Interesting, unique information about myself as an artist: I am an architect who has metamorphosed from designing physical behavior by organizing the walls into mediating the inner reflections of the soul through abstract painting hung on the walls. What is prominent about me that affects my artworks is my architectural background. This makes my painting sketch-like, palimpsest, cinematic, and flexible. Even though I do not use architectural form or city silhouette, my architectural experience makes the difference in my artworks such as having architectural way of creating methods. The architectural way of creating is through sketches. During the design process architects perform countless sketches that enable them to achieve good solution at the end. I realized that I followed the same path in my paintings. I never start with a certain idea to be finalized. I paint my canvases layer by layer and final appearances always surprise me.
