Pastel Fine Art My aesthetic is emergence from dark to light, renderings of the human visage with dark dramatic palette. I am interested in exploring the darker side of ourselves where most of our feelings are "masked" and longing for expression.

CARMINE MONZO, known in the art world simply as "Monzo" was born in the colorful Neapolitan fishing village of Agropoli, an ancient Italian City, on the coast of Salerno. Monzo's early life found him at the age of two immigrating with his parents and sister to the land of OZ, settling in Sydney Australia, a far cry from his Italian roots. He has lived a rich and diverse life, leading to a combination of extremes. Finding his passion for art and sculpture at the age of six, he won a scholarship, but this passion had to be put on hold due to the lack of means of the family who were not able to support his dream. Not to be thwarted as life went on his love of art would always be omnipresent. Christmas Day 1960 he was run over and dragged underneath a car driven by his uncle. This event contributed to many of the surreal images found in his work. Inspiration has come in many different packages throughout his life; he has been a Jungle Explorer surviving on bugs and lizards, Mountain Climber, World Traveler, Entrepreneur, leaving behind careers in Psychiatry and Professional Photography, Monzo has finally decided to focus entirely on his passion, his ART. He is also is a husband and father, a frustrated opera singer, master of tomfoolery, pipe smoker, a renaissance man and a hotdog fanatic. His photography work has been published in National Geographic, Redbook, and Vogue Magazines, his paintings can be found in the permanent collection of the Melbourne Opera House, Australia, and the Carrajong Gallery, New South Wales, Australia. Most recently expanding his career to the United States Monzo, has had exhibitions at Gallery 821, Pittsford, New York, Hirsute Gallery, New York, NY, Art Expo, New York, NY and others. I am looking for representation and seek a gallery to exhibit and to have a permanent relationship. Please contact me through this site or on my facebook page. G'day
