Monika Matsumoto is a contemporary artist whose work bridges the boundaries between memory, materiality, and sustainability. With background in conservation of architectural monuments and a deep fascination with nature, space, and regeneration, she creates mixed media sculptures, textile installations, and experimental works that explore the hidden connection between the organic and the technological worlds. Working with recycled materials, and found objects, Monika transforms fragments of the past into new forms, offering a poetic reflection on cycles of life. Her recent series weave together space - age aesthetics with personal narratives to question what we remember, what we discard, and how we evolve. Her art is strongly influenced by themes of sustainability, the passage of time, and the emotional landscape attached to materials. Through abstraction and symbolism, she invite viewers to contemplate impermanence, resilience, and the beauty found in transformation. Recognized by Saatchi Art curators and featured on international platforms, Monika continues to push her practice toward new horizons, blending craftsmanship with conceptual inquiry. Monika artistic career began in the UK in 2001. She has a diverse background in the arts, encompassing heritage architectural restoration, fashion, and set design. Her experience varies from working as an architectural restorer at heritage sites across Poland and the UK to designing prototypes and working on projects for scenic and design studios in London. Notable collaborations include artists and institutions such as Alexander McQueen, the Royal Opera House, Martin Margiela, Liberty, Selfridges London. This diverse experience significantly influences her artwork, which integrates textiles, painting, photography, and classical fine arts techniques with technology, including fiber optics, lenticular printing, and digital media. Her understanding and experience with mixed media make her a unique and compelling artist to explore.
