Sarnai Bold is a celebrated Mongolian artist and designer, known both locally and internationally for her luxurious paintings and contemporary designs. She graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Ulaanbaatar in 1998, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Decorative Art. Following her studies, she attended the Dressmaker Gakuin and the Sugino Fashion Institute in Tokyo, Japan, from 1999 to 2003. Afterward, she served as an assistant teacher in Tokyo and later taught fashion design at the Institute of Fine Arts from 2005 to 2011. In 2019, her artwork "Journey of the Self to the Self" was selected for the "Innovating Tradition: Contemporary Mongolian Art" exhibition organized by the World Bank Group, held in Washington, D.C., USA. In addition to annual exhibitions at the Union of Mongolian Artists, Sarnai's works have been featured in significant events such as the "Impressions" exhibition at the "Modern Mongolia" Business and Culture Event in Dubai, UAE, in 2025, and the Korea and Mongolia International Art Festival. Other notable exhibitions include the "Summer Garden" exhibition at the Kempinski Art Exhibition and the "Mongolia-Korea Art Union Exhibition" at the Insadong Korean Art Museum in Seoul, Korea, in 2024. She also participated in the "Korea-Mongolia Art Union Exhibition" at Pond Art Gallery and the "Spring Wind" collaborative exhibition at the Toyota Top Motors Showroom in 2023. Bold's vibrant use of color, her fashion design training, and her rich application of paint highlight her celebration of individuality in her work. In her artist statement, she emphasizes, “Each of us contains within ourselves a fountain of joy, love, and peace. If we look closely inside ourselves, we can discover our originality, uniqueness, and individuality. By looking inward, we can more deeply develop our human potential, capabilities, talents, and innovative ideas. The true wealth lies within ourselves. It’s about expanding your mind and being sensitive, emotional, and humane. It’s about recognizing oneself in another.” She has received several accolades, including the Foreign Minister’s Award at the 35th Seiko Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan, in 2015, as well as the “10 Anars of Art & Culture” award from the Arts Council of Mongolia in 2012.
