Alicia is a multi-media visual artist living in Ithaca, NY. She creates soulful expressions using both traditional and digital techniques of photography, drawing, painting and film. Using photographic techniques through a feminist lens, Alicia challenges the conventional beauty standard and the way we view the female, not as something to objectify, but more a reflection of her inner power. She uses art as therapy, connecting us to our soul and to show the beauty in all of us. Her artwork examines spirituality, motherhood, grief, trauma, movement, color, cellular memory and nostalgia. Painting has a timelessness about it that reminds me to slow down and enjoy life. As we are heading more into an era of fast paced technology, the old techniques of applying paint to a canvas still stays alive. I have a deep interest in painting people in all forms of our complexity and emotions. I would like to show the raw and underlying issues that we face within ourselves, our tragedies and flaws. Because within this there is beauty and this is what makes us human.
