ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Not so Mellow Yellow, where to begin? I enjoy painting in bright colors often and enjoy seeing how much complexity can fit into a small space. The original of this is just six inches by six inches but it was plenty of space for layering the micro details I love.

I began painting in 2010 following a difficult move from the city where I felt I had "come of age." The city was Santa Fe, New Mexico and its influences have been great in my life. It shaped my thinking, living there, it shaped my already visual nature and it served as an encouragement to me as I met painter after painter who only started painting at what might be considered mid-life. I did not anticipate becoming a painter and, even once I began painting, that it would become something I would have the opportunity to do full-time. I did not train for this aside from living my life in what I have considered the fullest ways possible. I find myself at events many weekends in the spring and fall where I have the delightful opportunities to meet so many people. A community has gathered around me and that has been the biggest success of my art and the cause of its opportunity. I am grateful for the support that has created homes for each of the paintings that I could learn more about painting through the process of creating another one and another one. I believe painting to be like other parts of life wherein the success comes best when we are able to let go and concede to intervention offered by the Divine. I have felt guided in the process of painting, guided and supported by help from both seen and unseen. The path has been providential. There are many things I cannot do but in this one thing I can, doors have been opened. Thank you for your interest in my art. Camille Ellington
