“Painting is a different form of thinking and expression, it's very hard for me to put in words what and why I am painting or drawing. For me, it's a way to stay alive, release my internal energy, and live a fuller, more meaningful life. Mostly I start my work with a concrete idea, but then subconsciousness takes over consciousness while I continue working on it.” Contemporary artist Stasia (Anastasia) Eskin presents a variety from expressive landscapes which sometimes border on the abstract to realistic drawings when her primary focus is on color and shape relationships. However, she found she needed a concrete point of reference, both for herself and while bringing an idea to the viewer. Nature has provided that ever since, after a seventeen-year of hiatus when she did not paint at all. She is inspired by elements of nature – trees, clouds, fields, and water where some shapes only provide some clue of the perceived world. She has been enamored with creativity and art since she was a child, and she nurtured this passion throughout her education. She graduated with honors from the School of the Art 4 years program and studied Graphic Design at the Wizo Canada School of Design and Education. Also, she holds a Bachelor's degree in nursing and a Master's in Public Health, for a long period she was employed in the health industry in different positions from the medical surgery nurse to critical care, risk management, and head nurse. Following a move to Canada, she continues working as a registered nurse and also back to art-related activities and is active in juried exhibitions. She currently lives and works in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She also maintains membership in several art associations in Greater Toronto Area.
