Our memories are unclear. The small space I kept inside contains 'absence'. I don't know if it's past or what's left. The texture of the surface of the work is rough and soft. It's unclear if the floating grains on the screen reveal the 'remain' or the 'traces' of what's gone. What's in there...

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Jaehee Lee embarked on an artistic journey that led her from majoring in painting during her undergraduate and graduate studies to becoming a book designer and wedding dress designer. Currently, she is also active as a wedding florist. Having been deeply loved by her father throughout her childhood, Jaehee experienced a profound sense of unfamiliar absence upon his sudden demise, prompting her to delve into the essence of human existence. Vibrant dresses, exquisite flowers, and the contemplation of human mortality have sparked Jaehee's philosophical journey, shaping her current artistic worldview. This introspection became the cornerstone of her current artistic philosophy. Jaehee Lee's work is a visualization of memory based on absence. ... The consciousness and expression of absence revealed in the work is a present progressive story of the old times and the past. It is a list of things that are familiar with what is left but familiar with the unfamiliar, and through this, it focuses on showing solidly 'absence'. As for the operation method, the other is introduced and the open completion method is adopted. The biggest feature is that it has a tendency of conceptual art, and the underlying material is objects and photographs in everyday life. Most of the scenes in the work are places where photographs were taken or where the everyday space was directly produced, and another feature is that the actual work is re-photographed and used as a source of work. The location and time were presented unclearly as transformed scenes by enlarging and reducing the photographed image, and the canvas screen was physically divided and the time and space were arranged differently. ... Memories summon and present the absence before your eyes. The madeleine accompanied by the horns and coffee scent of the rainy street reminds me of a cafe I met at the destination and a snack comprehensive gift set with an umbrella in my father's hand on my way home from work. The madeleine on a rainy day works as an object that recalls the past as a catalyst for memory and reveals the presence of the absence of 'being'. It is a work that stimulates the sensory organs to induce viewers to incorporate their memories into the work. The viewer is at a boundary point that reminds one of one's own memories stored through the work in front of him. ... Life is as vague as the unknown. In our daily lives, we believe that tomorrow will shine more than today.
