Peaking over the edge of Blorenge Mountain, Wales, one of the Three Peaks of Abergavenny. Taken seconds before I'm about to run and literally leap off this mountain, into the air, on my very first, and last, tandem paragliding flight. Just standing here had my knees turning to jelly. Jen Cowen

Jen Cowen

United Kingdom

Jen Cowen, a British-Canadian artist based in Hayle, Cornwall, was shaped by her Canadian upbringing amidst cultural diversity and natural beauty. At sixteen, an exchange to South Africa during its transition to democracy profoundly impacted her art. Jen’s work transports viewers a realm of alternative realties and consciousness, capturing the magic and mystery of the ethereal space and creating a bridge between the tangible and the imagined. She does this through Impressionistic and abstract painting, multimedia artwork and photography. Since 2008, the legends and landscapes of southern UK have inspired a collection of photographs that delve into imagination, myth and the mystical Otherworld. A portion of the proceeds from every sale helps expand her artistic reach by funding a specialized wheelchair - opening new perspectives for her art and photography. Two of her pieces, ‘Falmouth Harbour Light & Shadow’ and ‘Proud Sails to the Rear’ will be on display at the Fox Yard Studio Gallery’s Light & Shadow exhibition from the 30th of May to 10th of June.
