Multifaceted Argentine artist. Since a very early age, Marcelo Toledo has been attracted by the universe of metals and along his career in the field of metal art has become a big name in his country. As part of his work he has explored design, goldsmithing, jewelry and ceramics. In a more recent period he transformed the traditional goldsmithing technique into contemporary works of art. Currently, Marcelo Toledo is producing works applying indigenous textile techniques and using metal as a guiding thread to connect the past with the present in large format pieces and installations in public spaces. His conceptual focus centers on topics of great social impact like diversity, gender and sustainability. His works are produced using scrape pieces of bronze, copper and other metals, giving new life to these materials. He has made individual exhibitions in numerous museums and galleries throughout the world. Presently, his aim is remaking the past by means of a conceptual alchemy to materialize it into the future.
