"Butturini inspirations does not love light and does not create it. The young artist from Verona could be described as regarding the presence of light as a trick, an artifice extraneous to painting.The lights in his paintings cannot be adjusted or covered over with sloping elements. For Butturini, what it is polychromatic belongs to matter. As in the most suffocated works of Soutine and Varlin, the extreme silence of his paintings is born out of the unusual and
unexpected conjunction of the absence of light
and the triumph of ochre, which adumbrate ‘a
foggy space" (Floriano De Santi)

Simone Butturini is born in Verona in 1968, where he graduated with honors at the Academy of Belle Arti G. B. Cignaroli, under the guidance of Maestri Giuliano Collina e Silvano Girardello. His exhibions start from 1987. Amongst the most important ones: XLVI
