Weronika Surma

I am an artist, sculptress, ceramicist, lecture assistant and curator. I was born in 1987 in Warsaw. I grew up in a little village Krempachy, in southern Poland, in the Tatras Mountains. Currently, I live and work in Wrocław.
After graduating (with honors) from the Sculpture Department at Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2013, I continued art education at PhD studies at the Ceramic Department at Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław in years 2014-2018 where I presently work as an assistant lecturer in the Studio of Ceramic Technologies and Techniques in Painting and Sculpture. In 2023 I have obtained PhD title at Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art.

The subject matter of my work is a hand-built ceramic picture, where I believe, on its surface drawing, sculpture and painting meet in a perfect balance. I stay inspired by the human body, expressed by sculpting matter with colors and plotting corporeality with line.
