Bazévian Delacapucinière is a France-based artist known for vibrant, emotionally charged figurative works. With Norwegian, Brazilian and Korean roots, Bazévian spent a decade traveling across continents, meeting artists, absorbing cultures, and shaping an intuitive approach to portraiture. Focusing primarily on the human face, Bazévian explores its role as both a mirror and a mask. “The face is language, an exposed territory where emotions, codes, and expectations collide.” This fascination drives a practice that questions how identity is constructed, perceived, and sometimes constrained by social norms. Through the deconstruction of consumerist imagery, particularly the flawless ideals of fashion and media, the artist creates figures whose bodies dissolve while faces emerge in bursts of vivid color. These luminous visages become vessels of collective pressures and individual narratives, offering an intimate yet critical perspective on contemporary representation. Working with oil, oil pastel, and acrylic, Bazévian experiments with techniques involving dilution, layering, and extraction to produce paintings from small formats to monumental canvases. Each work is a deliberate balance between strength and sensitivity, intensity and nuance. Bazévian has presented solo exhibitions in France, Norway, Brazil, and South Korea. As an emerging international artist, the work has entered private collections across the United States, Europe, and, in Asia.
