He who has the most beautiful smile in the end wins. The primary focus of my life for the past thirty years has been painting. I have produced a large body of work encompassing a wide range of subject matter, emotions, and techniques. Only in the past several years have I become conscious that I have done so, strictly adhering to a vital principal of the Chinese ink painting tradition that I so much admired and wrote about extensively in the seventies. The guiding principal I called then and now is creation in sincerity. There is no posing or striving for effect, only the expression of my own mind and nature as I travel through life. I did not even consciously entertain the hope of arriving at any special destination - but I have.I discovered looking at my own paintings that they dont lie. They collectively revealed the truth of my own life, allowing me to arrive at what I can best express as selfhood. Up through the muck and mire the white lotus blooms.
