Mike Healey

I am a professional artist, living and working in the South of France.

I consider myself a Surrealist although I draw much inspiration from the landscape and plant forms of southern France .

Because I began my professional career in the theater, there is a high theatrical element in my work - not least my continuing interest in stage design

I was educated at Wadham College, Oxford. On graduation I joined the Oxford Playhouse, eventually becoming Associate Director.

There followed a long career in film and television for both BBC and ITV.

I left television twelve years ago and became an academic, running the Media Production course at the Cumbria Institute of the Arts, Carlisle. During this period my students won no less than 27 Royal Television Society awards.

In 2006 I retired from academia and moved to the south of France to concentrate on my writing and painting.
