Hansa Sethi

Hansa Sethi (1995) is a psychological artist whose practice investigates mental and emotional states through lived experience. Shaped by prolonged encounters with depression, numbness, and internal collapse, her work translates non-verbal psychological conditions into a visual language of color and structure.

Her palette resists the conventional portrayal of mental illness as purely dark. Instead, it acknowledges its complexity — it can be colorful, chaotic, void, seductive, and brutal simultaneously.

Her work has been described as decorative, repetitive, or filled with unrecognized blanks. She positions these elements not as aesthetic excess but as psychological accuracy. The blank spaces mirror the unknown. Repetition becomes survival. Structured recurrence reflects the monotony and rigidity of life during psychological distress.

Art was always present in her life, but it was rediscovered as a necessity during a period of rupture. What began as an instinctive act of survival evolved into a disciplined practice — a way of re-entering sensation and rebuilding perception.

Her practice remains an ongoing inquiry into mental health, emotional fracture, and psychological return.
