Tommy Lei is a Los Angeles–based fine art photographer whose work often transforms into painted photographs—images that blur the line between photography and painting. Rooted in themes of identity, memory, and place, his practice uses quiet, contemplative imagery to invite stillness, balance, and reflection.

Born in Hong Kong and raised Buddhist, Lei brings a sensitivity to overlooked moments and the fluid nature of time. He approaches photography as a meditative practice, capturing moments of presence within both natural and urban environments. Informed by a background in psychology and years of global travel, his compositions feel intimate yet expansive, offering viewers a sense of calm, harmony, and renewal.

Lei’s work is held in private and institutional collections, with recent exhibitions including the Pasadena Museum of History. He is an ambassador for Canson Infinity, and his photographs have been featured in Architectural Digest, Aesthetica, and The Hollywood Reporter. Collectors include author Celeste Ng, with recent commissions for JP Morgan Chase and Samsung Frame TVs.
