My journey....
Having drawn, painted and made things from a young age, it was a natural progression to go to art college and further education.
Making a decision which discipline to choose was not so easy. Having flitted from one discipline to another, I finally chose to go into Textile Design. Despite a very long emotional journey throughout University I obtained a BA (Hons). After qualifying, the textile industry hit a decline in the UK. I made many attempts to join the industry, running up and down the country. Job opportunities were made but in all circumstances the work was financially in-viable. Many expecting complete collections and other commitments before payment, which never materialize. It seemed a futile race to continue, when I was competing against overwhelming and experienced competition in, what was then, a declining industry.
So what to do next? Pay off that debt I accrued at uni, whilst the dream was on hold. A smattering of temporary work, along side a few full time posts, I found myself working for the same company a little too long and stifled in a future-less direction.
I began to rekindle my love and desire to create, and I embarked on immersing myself in art, and all areas that I am passionate ...
