Spanish (Valencia) born, Bristol based artist. Investigates mixing media and languages. Uses interchangeably oil pastel, pencils, painting, canvas and paper, without boundaries between genres.
Jesús Andrés is interested in biopolitics, in how to manage our lives, now and here. His references come from D. F. Wallace, Thomas Pynchon, Don DeLillo, A. M. Homes, Ali Smith, Zadie Smith, Steven Shaviro, Larry McCaffery, Eloy Fernández Porta or Donna Haraway.
His work could be called late-model (Wallace), after-pop (Fernández Porta), avant-pop (McCaffery), mutant (Ferré) or just a Doom Patrol piece as Shaviro could summarize. He is interested in literature and art contaminated by tv, net, media and pop culture.
