Mary Burke

In her work Mary is influenced by the raw beauty of Ireland's landscape and sea, and the Maine coastline. Her paintings bring the essence of the ocean and the mesmerizing quality of water into soft focus. The spiritual aspect of her Celtic roots also informs her work, and she sees this rich emotional history as another expression of the depth and tone infused in her work.
Her process is as fluid as the materials she is using. She often focuses on an image or mood she wishes to project, and from there selects the medium and color palate that reflects her inspiration.

Mary graduated with honors from Crawford College of Art and Design in Ireland, majoring in printmaking. She has taken classes at Rhode Island School of Design, Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, and Warehouse Studios. She works in a variety of mediums, with a strong affinity towards oil and watercolor painting.
