My encounter with Washi-Zokei ("Japanese traditional handmade paper creations") came in 1993 just before I left for Washington, D.C. to pursue my post-graduate studies. By chance, a friend of mine introduced me to a graduate from Setagaya Washi-Zokei School of Art in Tokyo, who showed me his artworks.
Fascinated by the delicate and exquisite texture and feel of the Washi paper, I took a private class taught by him to learn the basic techniques of Washi-Zokei before my departure. It was after my return to Japan that I became more serious about Washi-Zokei and attended a year-long course at Setagaya Washi-Zokei School of Art under the guidance of it founder, Mr. Teiji Ono.
Since then, I've continued to create original works utilizing various techniques of Washi-Zokei to express my appreciation of and sensitivity towards the magical power of nature.
Through my work, I hope to help ease the tensions in people's daily lives. Today's world is much too stressful, so if looking at the subtle designs in Washi art could help people relax and appreciate life a little more, I'd be delighted.

I have held numerous exhibitions, including a number of solo exhibitions as well as group exhibitions with my classmates in Tokyo, a solo exhibition in Shanghai, and an online gallery exhibition in London.
