Sleeping Avalon Hand-Drawn Digital Artwork Print

I was writing a preteen fantasy novel, and I decided to draw my main character, Avalon Eyrelin. I was thinking about illustrations for the book. I started with graphite on plain white printing paper, then went over it in black ink. I scanned it into my computer, and then worked on it digitally in a program for photo manipulation, where I gave it color. Later on, I took the same original pen and ink scan, cropped it to just her face, and really went all out with it, using my art pen tablet to colorize the image. This was the result. This is a mixed media art piece that only exists digitally. The original pen and ink drawing, I still have somewhere, I am sure. But I like the digital, colorized version better. As with all of my artwork, the central theme I intend to convey is a sense of dreaming, wishful fantasy. Whimsicality. Escape from reality into a softened ideal. This is the land my heart lives in.
