So, I took an oil painting workshop but on the last day I woke up with a smashing headache that spiraled into yuck! After calling the instructor and letting her know I wasn’t going to make it I took a nap and after a few hours I felt well enough to go to the workshop and pickup the supplies I left from the day before. The instructor gave me the outline drawing of apples in a bowl and the color keys for her lesson that day. A couple weeks later I decided to transfer the drawing to the panel and dive into the background of the painting. But, after a few days I just wasn’t feeling it so I decided to just enjoy adding paint to the panel and ignore the apple drawing and painting underneath. Some of the original apple drawing lines can be seen peeking through the current layer of paint. 2021 is my year of abstraction and apples just didn’t fit so I reimagined them into this painting.
