ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I was outraged when I read an article in a Georgia newspaper. A bank in the state of Georgia buried the can goods of a foreclosed grocery store. Rather than sell them to the local population for a penny on the dollar or donate to charity, they ordered a hole be created to bury all the can goods. The bank's action on so many levels so disgusted me. I immediately wrote a letter to the bank, shared on social media, and created this artwork. I chose the hands reaching as a symbol of the pain and insult felt of that community of color in Georgia.
