About The Artwork

Hello Cat, is a subject that I started using someone's photo as a reference, at that time I had some kittens and cats staying in the garden. The inspiration was the cats who were looking for somewhere to have food and shelter at our home. They have been re-homed now, to a cat rescue charity, but I did all that I could for them. This is my first painting including cats as a subject, I did use someone's photograph from the internet, and I tried to make it my own, but without the photograph, I would not have been able to make the painting. There is a relationship between the cat and the butterfly, they do love each other, and there are also other creatures in the background who are insects, that are hard to see, which was my intention. I am a self-taught painter in some respects, so I have not been taught how to make a subject into reality, but I have tried to make the painting a small story in my mind, it is good, and the cat is a good animal and one who is friendly and a hero to me at least. I have been as honest as possible, I feel that I worked on Hello Cat for about nine weeks, I have used lean layers and moved up to fat layers, I used approximately ten or eleven layers to achieve the painting. Hello Cat is a good theme in my mind and heart, the Cat is a hero figure and the butterflies communicated hello to the Cat. If no one buys Hello Cat I hope you enjoy viewing the painting it is one of my best paintings so far. I have never had a Cat as a pet in the house, but two groups of cats and kittens have been staying here before, and I tried to help them. Lately, there is a new cats and kittens as of now. Hi to anyone who reads this explanation. The person who took the photograph, I hope you don't mind me using your photograph, without the help of the photographer, I would of not been able to make Hello Cat and the company of the cats who stayed here. Hello Cat took 121 hours in the studio. Hello Cat the painting has now got a white frame.

Hello, I'm Carl Hawthorn, and I'm pleased to meet you on the Saatchi Art website. I hope you enjoy the paintings, and please understand that I have a very mild knowledge of the arts, and please wish me well in the art world. I was born in Wednesbury, West Midlands, and I was raised in the Hilltop area until I was 6 and a half years old, then my family moved to Great Barr, where I still live now. I live in Birmingham, where I live at home with my brother. I'm a painter who uses oil paints, I try to make beautiful paintings to the best of my ability. I was a technical representative at Coca-Cola Enterprises until I had a stroke in 2008, working for Coca-Cola Enterprises changed my life in a very good way, and whilst working at Coca-Cola Enterprises they allowed me the opportunity to go on an expedition to Mountain Mckinley in Alaska, United States of America, where I summited with a team, which was a very big feat for me to achieve. I have been learning how to be a painter since 2009 and painting in oils has given me much help with my recovery after the stroke. Without painting using oils, I don't believe that I would have managed to get this far in my personal recovery. I feel blessed to be an amateur painter and to be able to put the paintings on the Saatchi Art website thank you, Saatchi Art. I have not sold any paintings as of yet, but hopefully, I will be successful to sell some paintings hopefully, the majority of my paintings have been given or donated to friends and family and neighbours, and a church and one to a monastery and another to a private house, so it is only recently that I have uploaded the artwork, about mid-2022, so this is my attempt to sell some of the paintings. I used to be an Amateur mountaineer it was my interest, for about six years of my life, I have not managed to go back into climbing after the brain haemorrhage, but I did manage to go for some walks in the Lake District. with my dog (Sophie), who was loved very much, and an artist who helped me whilst in the Lake District on Holiday. I spend most of my time in the studio at home, I do tasks at home Mondays, and Tuesdays housework and cleaning, and cutting the grass, and the garden pond also, then I usually work on paintings from Tuesday afternoons until Saturday afternoons.
