About The Artwork
The Medieval villages of Catalonia with their stone work, plaster and terracotta roofs are a gorgeous mix of earthy browns, reds and yellows. Like patchwork quilts. The Mediterranean light intensifies the colours. Often in the summer heat the villages look like they are melting into the landscape. I use a pallet knife to create a textured and sumptuous effect. The villages are pretty with many tourists in the summer and I see them as sweet cakes with melting icing. The back has two eye hooks and wire for easy hanging and is signed.
