About The Artwork
ABOUT Nothing compares to summer in the Aegean islands. The scenes here swirl under the stunning vibrancy of the unique Greek sunlight, which has always fascinated me as a visual artist. A few summers ago, I decided to spend my whole summer on a quest for those decisive moments reflecting the spirit of summertime, capturing with my camera the abstract reflections of the light and the most intriguing stories of people having fun, enjoying carefree their time out, on the beach. «Walking On The Beach – Four Young Men» is a scene with vibrant summer colours that wash across the artwork as if, they had been coloured by hands. This work is an attempt to keep alive all year round the marvel and colorful moments of a day on the beach. Without any digital elaboration, except that of color correction and crop this artwork was captured with a special photographic technique. The process of this technique is very demanding especially on a crowded beach and requires long waiting time and a keen eye to catch without staging an intriguing and unique scene that is a perfect match for this technique. THE PRODUCTION Limited Edition of 7. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), hand signed and numbered by the artist. Pigmented Giclée printed without border on museum grade 100% cotton rag paper 310 gsm. Production is supervised by the artist to the last detail. Born and raised in Athens, I took up the camera in the early 1980s and a couple of years later I began my formal training in photography while studying Topography at The National Technical University of Athens (1983-1989). My work is motivated by an existential need to express myself and connect with others, and understand the many and often incompatible sides of the ego, in a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. My intention is to create work that facilitates intimacy with the viewer and encourages empathy. Since my first solo exhibition in 1988, my work has been presented in many group exhibitions and 7 solo shows and I have been awarded international awards and distinctions. I have published 3 photographic albums and 4 Artbooks. Some of my works are in public and private collections. Member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece.
