Stavri Kalinov is a very famous artist and sculptor in Bulgaria.
He was born on 15 November 1944 in the town Vidin.
He calls himself an alien, but planted on earth because he is unconventional and unique with his talent.
His art is extremely diverse using techniques not found anywhere in the world.

Biography and career:
Stavri Nikiforov Kalinov was born on the 15th of November, 1944 in Vidin, Republic of Bulgaria. He was born in a poor family with three children. His mother Reina, who was of Jewish descent, had a particular influence on shaping him as a character and artist.
From 1961 to 1964 he studied secondary education in Vidin. During this period he trained in various sports - cycling, weightlifting and rowing. His greatest achievement was a junior championship title in the 10 km canoe. After graduating from the Second High School in Vidin in 1964 he did his regular military service in Yambol until 1966.
Between 1966 and 1968 he applied to the Higher Institute of Fine Arts "Nikolai Pavlovich" without success. During these three years he was a freelance artist and worked in the field of posters and commercial advertisements. In addition, he is engaged in painting.
Finally his dream came true in 1969 and he was admitted to the Higher Institute of Fine Arts with a major in woodcarving. In 1977, he graduated from the institute and started participating in various exhibitions. His first solo exhibition was in 1980 in Sofia.
