Blue Moves is a new collage painting in my series using torn paper to draw lines across the canvas. In the history of art, the color blue is used by many artists as a subject, no one more famously than Yves Klein. For me, blue evokes a multitude of moods, associations and memories; from snorkeling in the Caribbean sea, the blue sky in California and blueberries. For Blue Moves, I tore up a bank statement which can be a source of stress for some, and painted each strip individually using the canvas as the surface on which I painted. Thus, an under painting of blue watercolor creates layers of depths for the blue paper on top to interact and create additional focal points.
