I see a need to ask myself the question, “What is the function of Art”? The subjective aspects involved in deciding the answer to this question are apparent and these subjective aspects themselves have a direct influential power over the aesthetic decision making involved with creating images. How meaning is derived and developed in the individual should be considered in defining the functionality of art. For myself as an image maker, I am interested in creating a space where the functionality of art can have a dynamic, malleable nature, which allows for my image making to be representative of the totality of my experiences and personality. Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can see images of bright, kaleidoscopic, rainbow like fractals, moving in waves and patterns that feel like subtle hallucinations of the basic structures of the mind; yet sometimes I can see the agonized faces of humans dead and dying, suffering and feeling the wrath of life at its most terrible. In my artistic expressions, I tend to find myself somewhere between these places; partly as a personal therapy, as an education service, as an exploration of my mind, I seek to say things with emotions.
