This piece is an original acrylic collage paper painting. My work is inspired by cells, mushrooms, atmospheric light, organic forms and biomes. Using repetitive imagery such as cell structures, I create a microbiome within each piece, bringing attention to ideas of both microcosmic and macrocosmic elements. I've always loved puzzles and putting things together and incorporate this idea into my work: that everything is connected, the idea of how things fit together and the many pieces it takes to make the whole.

Ali Herrmann is a mixed media painter, colorist and science lover, whose work explores cellular structures as an origin into her abstract artworks. Creating what she terms ‘micro-biome landscapes,’ Herrmann uses SEM images and organic shapes as inspiration to explore concepts of blood, bacteria, fungi, and unicellular structures within her boldly colorful, abstract artworks. Exploring themes of repetition, rhythmic orders, geometric shapes, and chaos-order theory, Ali brings attention to nature's details that are often overlooked.
