About The Artwork

This is an original mixed media work with painted photogravures and graphite drawing on 100% rag paper. The subject is a juxtaposition of images on humanity's "search." The palette is a gray scale of graphite and photogravures with yellow highlights. The work is in pristine condition and signed by the artist. This work was included in the recent retrospective exhibit of this artist at the Museo de las Americas and included in the exhibit catalog (available on Amazon). A copy of this catalog will be provided to the purchaser of the work. Title: "And the Search Goes On" Artist: Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO) Size: 14" height x 19"' width (paper) 21.5" height x 25.5" width (frame) Medium: Graphite, ink and photogravure collage on paper Year: 2007 Framing: Bronze-toned wood frame with double matting as shown, ready to hang. He was the subject of a museum-wide retrospective at Denver's Museo de las Americas in 2015-2016. He is listed among the three dozen most influential regional artists of the twentieth century in a Denver Post survey of regional curators and proved the best selling artist at the first International Latino Art Auction in Phoenix, AZ. The Denver Art Museum's first purchase of a living Hispanic's work for its permanent collection was a De La Cruz. Years later, he was the only artist considered when that same museum wanted to commission a major, contemporary digital work commemorating the opening of its new Libeskind Building. Other honors include award of Best Art Event of the Year by Westword Magazine and appointment to Denver’s Commission on Arts and Culture.

Born 1948, Denver, CO. Saatchi site presence maintained by Young's Fine Art. Extensive website at delacruzarts.com. "De La Cruz's mastery of formal and experimental techniques reflects a career dedicated to creative probing and discipline. It is rare indeed to come into contact with an artist who so successfully ranges from abstraction to surrealism in single canvases. Themes of personal identity and interpersonal responsiveness are layered into his work, allowing the viewer to share in the artist's process of questioning the relationships of his subjects to the world. The insights that develop in his works are universal in their ability to connect the reflective with the informative." Joaquin Alvarado Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO) was listed among the three dozen most influential regional artists of the twentieth century in a Denver Post survey of regional curators (2001). De La Cruz was the recipient of back-to-back artist in residency grants from Colorado in his early career and received as well their very last painting fellowship in 2000. For a spell in 2006, works of De La Cruz were included in three unrelated art museum exhibits in Denver (Denver Art Museum, El Museo and the Mizel).
