BELOVED
Beloved is the Hebrew translation of the word David. In single combat, David defeated the Giant Philistine soldier Goliath, with his slingshot, providing a victory for King Saul and the Israelites. King Saul made David a General in his army and when Saul passed away he became the King of Judea. He ruled for many years and except for a little transgression with Bathsheba he was forgiven and their son Solomon (you know the wise one) succeeded him on the throne. David was later the symbol for the Italian city of Florence. During the Late Renaissance the Medici family commissioned Michelangelo to sculpt a statue of him for the town square. Considered to be one of the Masterpieces of Western Civilization, when you see it in person (you must see it in person to get the full effect) the genius of old Mick is fully manifest. As you circle around the statue the emotions of both determination and fear appear to flow fleetingly and fitfully across David’s face. Perhaps the greatest example of pure human emotions ever portrayed in a single work of Art. Eventually it was moved indoors in 1873 (due to birds and weather) to the Galleria dell ‘Accademia, where it can be seen today. Surreallascapes: Each Collage is made up of at least 40 different pictures arranged in a landscape where the physical world is real, but the essence is of an alternate dimension. Or a Jigsaw puzzle where the pieces are made to fit together in a dreamlike manner. This will be offered as a signed and numbered print, limited to an edition of 25. There are only 17" X 25" prints with a one-inch border available.
