About The Artwork

Bad Hare Day is made with found objects from the Thames foreshore in London. Each part has had a previous life and has been discarded long ago. The ceramic head of the hare was found in the Thames mud and is part of an old jug. It is securely adhered to a wood backing which has been painted with acrylic black paint. The two combs were also found on the Thames foreshore and are early 1900s. The title is self explanatory!

I am a self-taught artist with a passion for using found objects in my artwork. The objects I use have been collected along the banks of the River Thames and the River Medway. As a Thames mudlark, I discover objects daily with a story behind them and I love the idea of giving these lost or discarded objects new life in a piece of art. Each item I use has a past history and a secret story. I like for the person looking at the artwork to see beyond the superficial nature of the art, and for their imagination to go on a journey as they imagine the person who last touched that clay pipe, or where the fragment of glass or pottery came from.
