CUBA LIBRE Collage

CUBA LIBRE Cuba Libre, (Free Cuba) is a drink made of rum, coca cola, and a lime wedge. It was first made in Havana during the occupation of Cuba by American troops following the Spanish American War of 1898. The war was fought ostensibly to free Cuba from Spanish rule, but by ceding control of the island to the United States, it became a prime example of the parameters of the Monroe Doctrine being stretched, by the rising power of the U.S.government, for the benefit of its’ own pocketbook. The drink has remained popular over the years as various things have kept it relevant. The Andrew Sisters 1945 hit song "Rum and Coca Cola", the rise of Castro, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the recent thawing of relations with the Communist regime. Oh and of course by the fact that it’s a quite tasty beverage. Surreallascapes: Each Collage is made up of at least 40 different pictures arranged in a landscape where the physical world is real, but the essence is of an alternate dimension. Or a Jigsaw puzzle where the pieces are made to fit together in a dreamlike manner. This will be offered as a signed and numbered print, limited to an edition of 25. Made from 100% rag paper, the 18" X 25" prints include a one-inch border.
