About The Artwork

HEY BABY (NEW RISING SUN) "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)", was one of the songs guitar virtuoso Jimi Hendrix was working on for his upcoming album named "First Rays of the New Rising Sun". Jimi had broken up his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience after the album Electric Ladyland and was embarking on a path he felt would lead him in new directions on his musical journey, including forays into jazz and purer blues. He had played the music festival Woodstock with a collection of musicians, which he dubbed Gypsy Sun and Rainbows. But after the festival he abandoned the group. He then formed and disbanded the Band of Gypsys, for a 2 day only live concert (New Year’s Eve and Day), recorded to settle a contract dispute. Jimi performed with two constants of his previous incarnations, Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox, at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970 but unfortunately died at age 27 a few weeks later. The album was never finished by Jimi but many of the songs have been released posthumously in various incarnations, as well as several live versions. Surreallascapes: Each Collage is made up of at least 40 different pictures arranged in a landscape where the physical world is real, but the essence is of an alternate dimension. Or a Jigsaw puzzle where the pieces are made to fit together in a dreamlike manner. This will be offered as a signed and numbered print, limited to an edition of 25. There are only 17" X 25" prints with a one-inch border available.
