This piece came about when listening to Erik Satie's Trois Gymnopédies No. 1. Filling me with feelings of langour on a soft summer afternoon. The style came about through my interest in Russian Constructivist art. Block colours with a roughness and handmade quality and some German Expressionist influence thrown in.This piece was one of my first tests of reworking my compositions digitally. I felt that if the medium could bring about the original texture and feeling of the oil pastel and graphite stick then the piece would be a success. The challenge for me in using digital technology is whether the application and equipment can produce an artwork that feels and looks like analog art. PLEASE NOTE: Printed Image Area is 27"x18", Sheet Size is 31"x22"
