About The Artwork

The inspiration of the work comes from the thought on the forced need to adapt to an excessively unhealthy society. We take a selfie, but do we really see our person in that photo? that too is a decomposition of image, of our image, which I use in my artistic style. But in this work I have left the decomposition of the image to the work itself. The work is very conceptual and my digital painting style is inherent in it. The work is printed on paper, but the paper is placed on a canvas support treated with various rigid layers of paper in turn, which serve as support and internal protection. The external protection is entrusted to the use of a rubbery plastic material with a duration of 120 years. All extremely adherent to the canvas, thus making the digital become a physical work.

My name is Paolo Ferraina. I am an Italian engineer and artist, based in Rome. I started painting and drawing since my adolescence, but the real consolidation of my art took place during my university studies. My artistic creation has gone from figurative to acrylic and oil on canvas (currently a private collection) to the gradual use of paper in every possible application. In the last 2 years my artistic production has shifted to digital, while remaining anchored to the use of paper which I think is an extremely versatile and empathetic material. In the latest productions I managed to find the right realization of the work (after long material research) to link the digital, which did not satisfy me as an end in itself, to the tangible materials defining the work. My works are a mix of modernity, technology, expressionism, abstractionism, pop and street art. In the next collections that I will publish below I will show new artistic research related to the new technology that opens infinite doors to the artist of the twenty-first century.
