Turtle Soup This is an image by Julia of a huge turtle swimming in the Seine in Paris by night in front of the Eiffel tower as a striking and thought-provoking piece that explores the complex relationships between humans and the natural world. At first glance, the image is a beautiful and serene representation of a majestic animal in its natural habitat. The Eiffel Tower in the background serves as a powerful symbol of human achievement and progress, contrasting with the quiet and contemplative presence of the turtle in the foreground. However, upon closer examination, the image also carries a deep historical and cultural significance related to the popularity of turtle soup in Paris in the 1700s. At that time, turtles were hunted and consumed in large quantities by the wealthy elite, leading to a significant decline in their numbers and almost causing a mass extinction of the species. The image of a turtle swimming in the Seine in front of the Eiffel Tower thus becomes a powerful commentary on the destructive impact of human activities on the natural world, and a reminder of the need for greater awareness and conservation efforts to protect endangered species and preserve our fragile ecosystem. Overall, the image of a huge turtle swimming in the Seine in Paris by night in front of the Eiffel tower is a poignant and evocative piece that challenges the viewer to reflect on their own relationship with nature and the impact of our actions on the world around us. I am an artist who likes to explore different materials. I have created works using lacquer on canvas, acrylic on canvas, laser cut plexiglass and engraved gesso board. At the moment I am fascinated by the possibilities of ai generated art and am creating prints with the images I produce. I was a full-time artist from 2001 to 2008 and had exhibitions in London, Paris and Berlin. After that I went into tech and started 3 startups. Now I am combining the artistic side and the tech side by creating ai generated artworks. I create the art works with generative ai and then they are printed on high quality art paper either gloss or matt and Saatchi Art ships them to you. My works are available individually or as a set of three. I like the idea of a set of three as you can tell a story with three pieces. When I first started exploring ai image creation it was like climbing down a ladder into my subconscious as literally anything was possible. Artists using materials tend to stick to what they have always done and don't change very much, with a few legendary exceptions like Picasso. The algorithm has quirkiness built in which can be an advantage or disadvantage as you often don't get what you want but may get something spectacular instead. I found, after choosing a selection from hundreds of images that I created, that the common thread was the 'WOW' factor. My desire is to create images that you are drawn to look at again and again; that literally wow you. That could be because they have a haunting beauty, are satirical, humorous, intriguing, thought-provoking or dark. I hope you like them too. Julia Macmillan @insaineart
