About The Artwork

7 Test Strips is comprised of seven long drawings made using a combination of ink, acrylic, pencil, emulsion and pastels on paper. Each piece was created as an experiment in pattern and media and sit together as a a collection of swatches or "test strips" that feed into the visual language that I use for my paintings. The edges are raw and their is evidence of their life in my studio. The size of 185cm is approximate depending on the space between the pieces. They are hung with one nail at the top and one at the bottom.

In response to our changing world Bea’s practice explores the creator’s resourcefulness, adaptability, and innovation. Curious how the future will look and the concept of the symbiocene, her practice is increasingly driven by her interest in exploring sustainability and organic structures. She is captivated by the new green materials that will one day be integrated into our everyday life and the science that is pushing boundaries to create a more dynamic future for us. As she moves on, she has been challenging the sustainability of her practice – using paint as well considered as possible and expanding the ways in which she makes marks – she has also been turning to her domestic life to provide a new life to disposable items. As she rations the use of off-the-shelf materials, she uses recycled and collected materials thus works have developed a dimension of tactility. Born in 1993 and raised in London, Bea graduated from Wimbledon College of Arts with a BA in Fine Art: Painting. She moved to Rome in October 2021 where she is currently studying for her MA in Fine Art Painting, from Rome University of Fine Art.
