Number 42 Drawing

The works in this series are intended to evoke emotions and contemplation rather than communicate a specific message. Some are dark, moody, pensive; others are bright, expressive, vibrant. Similarly, some drawings are orderly and precise and others are frenetic and unconstrained. This series is comprised of vertical lines. This direction symbolizes openness and a release of energy. I work in charcoal because it's unpretentious, organic and often unpredictable. Graphite is slightly more controllable because of its hardness. Each provides unique characteristics that I find complement each other. Paper size is 96x48 inches; actual drawing is 88x40 inches (4-inch border all sides). Dark prussian, white and black. NOTE: These drawings typically have dust marks or other byproducts of the creation process on the edges of the paper.
