About The Artwork

Requires framing to be properly displayed. Lightning (a paparrazzi's flash) and the sound of rain (like applause or bacon frying) all night and into the morning. Trouble in dreams. The smell of after shave on the head rest. Autumn. Senses awakening to the potential of slate clouds being gone by dawn. Wishing, hoping, dreading and wishing. If only California was here. In the backseat crates of apples we'd picked together. You had a blinding headache and, though I was too young to take the wheel (and the highway was drawn out graphite black), you asked me if I could drive the rest of way while you slept like a plank against the cracked window. The rear view mirror was pointed down so I saw the blurred road below instead of a semblance the past grimmed by rushing recession. I couldn’t see the way ahead; couldn’t remember the way back to the home we'd once shared. The jeep shushed the storm as if it knew your migraine by form.
