This is an artist's book. Its narrative begins with a realistic drawing of an original indigenous vase that the Xalapa Anthropology Museum allowed me to study. The vase represents Tajín, the Olmeca God of Thunder and Weather. Sometimes taken by Tlaloc, aztec God of Rain. From this point, I deconstruct the image in each page, making different graphite drawings until at the end is a complete abstract of lines and visual texture. With this, I represent the way indigenous cultural heritage is at risk of disappearance, solving into globalization aesthetics and short-time social memory. The piece is made with natural-like materials: graphite, cotton paper and fabric, to reflect its fragility.

Sometimes I draw. Sometimes I paint. Sometimes I make objects. But most of all, I make artists' books. For me, the book is a sacred, magic object. One that has different kinds of power in it, from a time - capsule that shows specific events, cultural heritage, family stories, to a strong critical voice. Whenever I paint, I focus on form and color. Color has been always interesting for me and I keep exploring its possibilities. I also integrate drawing-like strokes into painting in order to create something in between. Finally, Drawing manifests itself within my work either on paper, graphic arts such as printmaking or litography and in embroidery. For me, Embroidery is at the same time, drawing and writing. In terms of subject, I reflect about memory, melancholic figures and gender-based violence. I find today's world manifests through these atmospheres.
