About The Artwork

This drawing " Trapped " happened intuitively. I was busy with a series of 'doodles' ( completed 16 of these doodle type drawings ) during the Covid 19 hard lock down , level 5 here in South Africa, where you were not allowed to travel or go out of your home unless for absolute necessities. I felt trapped not being able to go for walks in the forest or for walks on the beach, to not be able to visit family...My mind was full of " what ifs and why is this pandemic happening" ? I soon realised I needed to change my focus and to rather think about the 'blessings' in my life, big and small and to be thankful for my 'lot' rather than being absorbed into a whirlpool of negativity ! Despite my questions , I do have faith in God and know that He has His reasons and purposes for things.....

Tiffany seeks to combine beauty, emotion and visual storytelling in her works, exploring her subjectivity and connecting with her understanding of the world. She draws inspiration from the natural world and the complexities of the human condition. In her recent work she seeks to highlight the intricate relationships between human beings and their environment, as well as the deep spiritual connections within ourselves and with the world around us. Her ceramic creations develop intuitively and shine a light on important cultural conversations, connecting the current situation with traditional and spiritual values and beliefs. Through the medium of clay, she constructs her sculptures using the ‘press-molding technique’ in combination with hand building techniques. The use of colored under-glazes and glazes are considered carefully for each piece. Her ceramic work is glaze fired to stoneware temperature. (1200 ‘C)
