My name is Marco Rizzini, I was born on the 21st June 1957 in Milan. My artistic streak emerged rather late, in 1988, when I made china drawings on paper. At the beginning my production was strictly characterized by the white and black tones and by the absolute lack of colour: my profession as a mechanic engineer may have influenced me. Little by little colours have infiltrated my drawings through the use, first sporadic, of coloured chine, markers, watercolors, pencil crayons, tempera. The impact with the colour was like magic. Initially the use of colour lacked spontaneity but gradually it became a foundation for my work. My long business trips as an engineer left an imprint on the first part of my artistic career. After a period spent in China, in 1993, I started painting on canvases. The exciting merging between canvas and acrylic paint (which dries quickly and has dramatic characteristics) was essential to my painting style: absolute lack of nuances, rather energetic use of spatula and brushes, accentuation of contrasts in order to exalt the forms, featured by a profile well defined by a black line. Since 1994 I frequently spent periods in France and I was absorbed by my profession as an engineer, therefore my production of paintings decreased. Between 2005 and 2007, when I moved to Lecco, there was a temporary pause, but in 2008 I experienced a resurgence of my artistic passion and productivity which gave me new confidence in my expressive potential. For the first time now I am facing the art market, with some fears and certainly lacking experience, but with the sensation that I have something to say. At this point my production counts about 500 canvases (various dimensions from 30X50 up to 80X90) and almost 2000 drawings on paper.
