About The Artwork
This was a public art commission. My mosaic idea was selected in an open art competition to create ideas for art works around our local town. I created the final design in collaboration with mosaic artist Jenny Fell and it was constructed with the help of Rob Underhill a landscape gardener.Selected situ was for Severn Porte Park, by the river in Llanidloes, mid- Wales. This was funded by Llani Ltd. I chose the medium of glass, white pebbles, paddles stones, slate and granite because of their special characteristics that capture a realistic portrayal of a sharp outlined leaping salmon swimming up stream. This was to celebrate the beauty of wildlife.
