About The Artwork

The basis of the installation taken the form of armored military equipment of the Soviet Union. “Pilate I” based on the shape of the turbine military fighter. Exploring this object-monster the artist tries to understand how ideas of collectivism and equality could coexist with militarism. A huge community of people was united by the idea of the existence of a common external enemy. At different times this enemy was presented by Nazi Germany, the USA and the capitalist world generally. However, the author takes a look at military facilities as the ruins of the past. According to his theory, “Pilate I” must exist in an open environment. Nature will do the trick: the metal will corrode rust after some time, the details of the fighter will be covered with wild plants. Separated from the system the item will be simply an artifact and its history will be erased.
