This is from my "Message in a Bottle series. In this sub-series, I was inspired by the iconic collars that “accessorized” the judicial robe of former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. As an accessories designer, I was drawn to her use of what might be perceived as ‘too feminine’ or ‘just fashion’ or ‘idiosyncratic’ as a symbol of greater truths she revealed about our social fabric. Just as she transformed and broadened the road of possibilities for women in the U.S., she turned something beautiful and feminine into a statement of essential power, identity and belonging.
