About The Artwork

The Hamsa (the number five in Arabic), is a palm shaped amulet with an eye symbol, which is incorporated in jewelry, wall hangings, and paintings as a lucky charm or a superstitious defense against the evil eye. It is popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa. An alternative Islamic name for this charm is the Hand of Fatima, in reference to the daughter of Mohammed. An alternative Jewish name for it is the Hand of Miriam, in reference to the sister of Moses and Aaron. Aarchaeological evidence suggests that the downward-pointing protective hamsa hand predates both Judaism and Islam referring to an ancient Middle Eastern goddess whose hand wards off the evil eye. I have used a contemporary style to portray this ancient symbol while remaining true to the origins of the region. My selection of colour schemes is carefully chosen to depict authenticity to the source of the Hamsa, as the shades of green, blue and turquoise are popular in the Middle East and are also used to ward off the evil eye. While I personally do not believe in superstition, I positively believe in having ‘good luck charms’ in my life. I therefore illustrate the Hamsa palm facing up in greeting, as a sign of welcoming salutation and peace. printed on canvas 31cm X 41cm

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I am a London based artist, who explores abstract shapes and colours in a variety of diverse media. The three main areas of my work are oil on canvas, MDF and wood sculptures, and computer art. Oil on Canvas: I work with vibrant colours mainly from the primary and secondary colour palette, exploring shapes and themes. The paintings investigate the abstraction of figurative, still life, or inanimate objects, striped to the core. The effervescent images are created with the use of bold brushstrokes softly blended at the edges. These bright paintings are suitable for domestic or office space, set to become a focal point on any wall, on their own or as part of an art collection. Colour Ink on Gloss Paper: I have created this unique technique of using coloured inks and Manga pens on glossy photo printing paper. The shiny effect of the colours on the glossy paper background is captivating and vibrant. The images of this collection mostly depict known symbolic signs such as the Heart. Each drawing is meticulously hand painted, changing colour with every stroke. Computer Art: I have developed this exceptional method of combining hand drawing and computer paint process to create some quirky designs. The method is used to enhance iconic symbols as well as abstract paintings. Each image is created and stored on the computer and can be printed to buyers specifications of size and surface:
