On top of a slight reference to an old song by the B-52s, the title of this artwork evokes the volcanic stone from which this female nude seems to have been sculpted, a lava still a little red although hardened by time. It is this uneven lava that prevails over the modeling of the body, as if the latter were trapped in a volcanic matrix: the mineral matter is stronger than the life it has absorbed. This one-of-a-kind artwork is made in mixed technique on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (many layers of transparent glazing and squares popping out of the canvas). This paintography is framed in black (total dimensions: approximately 44 x 54 x 3,5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
